I was scrolling through my old Facebook post getting the ick recently (I’m sure everyone can relate) when I stumbled upon this from 2019 and it still resonates with me today

Today in church we dove deep into dissatisfaction. Although the conversation was revolved a lot around marriage, there was something that stuck in my mind that I think EVERYONE needs to hear....
Comparison drives our dissatisfaction.
This goes for anyone and everyone. It’s SO true.
There are times as a photographer where I sit and compare my work to someone else’s. It causes dissatisfaction in my own work. Which causes me to go in a downward spiral of feeling unsatisfied in multiple aspects of my life.
This can go for people planning their wedding. They only have so much budget to work with. They sit and compare their wedding to another wedding. It causes dissatisfaction towards their wedding day...leading to dissatisfaction in their partner and ultimately their marriage.
There are endless examples of comparison leading to dissatisfaction. It’s a sad reality, especially the world we live in today where social media paints a perfect picture of what our lives look like. It’s not real.
Today I ask you to not compare. Look at your life. What are the things that you are unsatisfied with? What causes you to feel that way about those things? Is it comparison? Don’t let those causes lead to those results. There are so many things in life that we should be thankful for. Satisfied with. Find those things and never let comparison change the way you feel about them.
