I was scrolling through my old Facebook post getting the ick recently (I’m sure everyone can relate) when I stumbled upon this from 2019 and it still resonates with me today

Today in church we dove deep into dissatisfaction. Although the conversation was revolved a lot around marriage, there was something that stuck in my mind that I think EVERYONE needs to hear....

Comparison drives our dissatisfaction.

This goes for anyone and everyone. It’s SO true.

There are times as a photographer where I sit and compare my work to someone else’s. It causes dissatisfaction in my own work. Which causes me to go in a downward spiral of feeling unsatisfied in multiple aspects of my life.

This can go for people planning their wedding. They only have so much budget to work with. They sit and compare their wedding to another wedding. It causes dissatisfaction towards their wedding day...leading to dissatisfaction in their partner and ultimately their marriage.

There are endless examples of comparison leading to dissatisfaction. It’s a sad reality, especially the world we live in today where social media paints a perfect picture of what our lives look like. It’s not real.

Today I ask you to not compare. Look at your life. What are the things that you are unsatisfied with? What causes you to feel that way about those things? Is it comparison? Don’t let those causes lead to those results. There are so many things in life that we should be thankful for. Satisfied with. Find those things and never let comparison change the way you feel about them.

A golden fall evening with two of my favorite humans. Starting off at Cranbrook and finishing in Detroit at sunset did not disappoint. Chasing every bit of light gave us the dreamiest blur and glow. Morgan and Logan are longtime friends of mine, and getting to celebrate them next October already feels like such a highlight. Morgan is going to be the most stunning bride EVERRRRR.

This 2020 wedding season looks very different for me. I've come to find out that although I'm doing a lot less weddings, it's forced me to fully embrace the less packed schedule. Slowing down and enjoying the ride. This past weekend I had the opportunity to capture one of my sorority sister's weddings. It was the most perfect day. To be honest, it was the ONLY wedding that has ever ran AHEAD of schedule. And when I mean ahead of schedule, I mean 90 mins ahead of schedule. Talk about a super organized bride! Adam and Freya had their original wedding date in May of this year. They decided that postponing to July would be best for them and their family. I'm SO glad that they decided on a Friday wedding because I want everyone to know that they CAN work! I am so excited that I was there to capture them getting married surrounded by their closest family and friends. Cheers to Mr. and Mrs. Johnson!

Thank you to all their vendors for making their day extra special.

SLOW YOUR SCROLL. Check out this beautiful backyard wedding. These two have faced a lot of obstacles this year. It’s so refreshing to see love persist through these tough times. Yesterday I had the opportunity to capture Bryn and Maddy finally tying the knot after their two-year engagement. Early on in quarantine they both were faced with the decision to either postpone their wedding or just do it (as Nike would like to say). Is it correct to say they decided to do both? They came to the agreement that getting married on their original wedding date, surrounded with their closest family and friends, was what they wanted. They also didn’t want to completely cancel their big celebration so they decided doing it all over again next year was the best way to go. SO they get 2 parties. I’m NOT mad about it haha. Cheers to you guys. Congratulations. Thank you for allowing me to witness such an intimate moment.

I’m gonna be completely honest...heading into my first wedding of the 2020 season had me nervous. There was so much unknown. COVID-19 has changed the plans for many of my couples. There was one couple who decided to keep their original date and roll with the punches. I’m so glad they did. Yesterday was undoubtedly the most perfect wedding day. It was filled with so many caring people, thoughtful words, and exciting new chapters. I’m so glad that McKinley and Zach trusted me to capture this special day. They are living proof that love is not cancelled. I hope you both enjoy your honeymoon and the newlywed life. I can’t wait to share more from this beautiful day!! Congrats again to you two 💕
