I’ve been awful at remembering to ask for reviews after sessions and weddings, so last week I finally took some time to follow up with some of my past couples. (So if you received a super random email from me…hi, sorry 😂)

But there’s a reason I’m trying to get better about asking.

In a world where scams are becoming more and more common, especially in the wedding industry, reviews matter more than ever.

Before someone books me, they shouldn’t have to wonder: Is she actually going to show up? Will she do what she promised? Am I actually going to get my photos? People should NEVER have to question whether their photographer is going to show up for one of the biggest days of their life.

When someone hires me, I want them to feel confident in that decision. I can show you my portfolio. I can explain my process. I can sell you on my experience and my (slightly weird) personality. But hearing from real people who have actually trusted me with their memories? That carries a weight that I just can’t recreate myself.

So to every single person who has taken the time to leave me a review: thank you. Truly.

Thank you for your kind words. Thank you for supporting my business. And most importantly, thank you for trusting me with a moment in your life that you can never get back.

And if I’ve photographed you and you haven’t left a review yet, but you’d like to help me continue growing while also helping future clients feel a little more confident before trusting me with their own memories - I would be incredibly grateful for a review on Facebook and/or Google.

Google reviews can be left here:
https://g.page/r/Ccm7blpc0gwsEAI/review

It doesn’t have to be long or perfectly written. A few honest sentences about your experience can make a bigger difference to a small business than you probably realize.

Thank you, from the bottom of my heart, for continuing to support me and for allowing me to continue capturing memories.

With Love,
Katie

Because sometimes you don’t need a special occasion for photos.

Sometimes the occasion is simply: there’s a fluffy cow and I want pictures with it.

Bring the kids for an experience they’ll talk about forever. Update those family photos with a little more personality. Grab your partner for a ridiculously cute date-night session. Celebrate a birthday, pregnancy, graduation, anniversary—or nothing at all. Come with your best friend. Come by yourself. Come because you’ve been sending Highland cow TikToks to everyone you know for the last three years.

These aren’t just photos. They’re an excuse to do something fun, love on adorable Highland cows, and walk away with memories that are a whole lot more interesting than your typical family photo session.

Come for the cows. Leave with ridiculously cute photos. 🤎

Only four spots available!

6 minutes of editing sped up into 30 seconds.

Clients see the final photo, but they never see all the work and small changes that go into each and every photo. This is why photographers don’t give out the raw files, and why editing takes time. We don’t want you to have the unfinished photos that don’t represent our work or your special day.

Sending love and caffeine to my fellow photographers ♥️📸

If you would have told 10 year old Katie who did photography in 4H that she’d be a professional photographer capturing a dozen weddings a year, she would have rolled her little eyes and said “yeah right!” But here I am…and I truly love every minute of it.

10 years ago, Brandi asked me to do photos for her 30th birthday. I’m pretty sure she found me on Groupon when I had sessions for like $30 😅 She wanted a fun cake smash session, and I was down for the challenge and the laughs.

Fast forward to a few weeks ago, Brandi messaged me asking if we could recreate the photos for her 40th, and I said ABSOLUTELY!

It was really nice to see not only her growth in life and with her family, but to also see my growth as a photographer. It also truly meant a lot that all these years later, she came back to me ♥️

Let this also be your reminder that you’re never too old to do a cake smash and to not take life too seriously all the time.

Happy Birthday, Brandi! Thank you again for coming back and having me do these 🎂

This photo took a lot of patience, holding a kiss for an awkward amount of time, and a bit of luck.

Haley and Kyle wanted to swing by the elephant exhibit at the zoo after their beautiful garden ceremony. I saw the opportunity to try to frame the elephant in between them, but you can’t exactly ask a 5 ton elephant to turn and smile for a photo, so we just had to wait.

Much like their love, the wait was well worth it ♥️

Well… Mother Nature had other plans. 🌻

The sunflowers decided to bloom earlier than expected this year, so I’ve moved my sunflower mini sessions up to next week to make sure everyone gets those gorgeous, golden blooms instead of missing them.

As of right now, 6 of the 12 spots have already been booked, and because sunflower season is so short, I can’t guarantee I’ll be able to add more sessions once these fill.

If you’ve been thinking about booking, now’s the time.

Two package options:
Short & Sweet — $150
• 15-minute session
• 10 professionally edited images

All-In — $225
• 20-minute session
• All the best images from your session (typically 30+!)

📍 Two beautiful locations:
• Gust Brothers Farm (Ottawa Lake, MI)
• The Suns Flower (Lindsey, OH — pet friendly!)

Please note: Each farm charges a separate $5 admission per person, which lets you enjoy the sunflower fields before or after your session.

If you follow any other photographers, you’ve probably seen the trend of “I shot this so my second shooter could shoot this.”

Well…

I shot this 🤢🌳 while my second shooter shot family photos 😅

We had traveled 5+ hours for this wedding, and somewhere along the way, a stomach bug decided it wanted to be my guest. Right before family photos, I ended up running to the nearest tree to get sick.

Meanwhile, Reese didn’t miss a beat.

He jumped right in, organized everyone, kept family formals moving, and made sure the couple never knew what was happening behind the scenes…err behind the trees (surprise guys 😅)

People sometimes ask if they really need a second shooter at their wedding.

This is one reason why I will always recommend it.

Not because we expect things to go wrong—but because sometimes life happens. Cars break down. Cameras fail. People get sick. Timelines fall behind. The best wedding teams know how to adapt without making it your problem.

I’m incredibly thankful for Reese for stepping up when I couldn’t. Because of him, family photos stayed on schedule, our couple had no idea there was a small stomach-flu crisis happening 20 feet away, and we still got all the shots.

So while my view was a tree… his view was this.

Thank you again reeseoliverphotography for making sure I was okay and keeping photos on track 🫶🏻

Sometimes it takes the drive home for everything to sink in.

Zach and I decided to turn this weekend into a little getaway before I headed to Mackinac Island to photograph a wedding. We made the trip up to Pictured Rocks National Lakeshore, soaked in the views for a few hours, and then I spent Saturday documenting one of the biggest days of a couple’s life.

It wasn’t until I was driving home that it really hit me…

This is my life.

When I was a kid, I always had a camera in my hands. I photographed everything I could. But if you had told that little girl she’d one day have couples not only trust her with their wedding memories, but actually have her to travel 5+ hours away to celebrate alongside them… I never would have believed you.

Photography has given me so much more than a paycheck. It’s introduced me to incredible people, taken me to places I probably never would have visited otherwise, and allowed me to witness some of the happiest moments in people’s lives.

I don’t ever want this to become “normal” to me. I hope I always have moments like this—where I look around and realize just how incredibly lucky I am to do what I love.

So to every couple who’s trusted me with your memories, whether five minutes from home or five hours away… thank you. You gave the little girl with the camera a life she never even knew was possible.

And a special thank you to Abby and Cole for having me document your gorgeous day. Learning about your love story and seeing the love between you two was truly special ♥️
