Just a few hummingbird images today - because we had the first male show up at the feeders! I was a bit confused at first, because the gorget of the male ruby-throated hummingbird is supposed to be red!! When I googled it I found out this info: "The red feathers are iridescent and act like tiny prisms. If the sun doesn't hit the feathers directly, the throat reflects no red and looks jet black or dark grey." So there you have it! I learned something new about this tiny bird today!
