"Have you ever met someone in one chapter of your life and then had the privilege of seeing them in a completely different role? "
In March, I met Mark at Northwestern as he was caring for my Mom.
There was something special about him from the minute we met. He exuded kindness and compassion that was admirable. He wore a mask, but I could tell by his eyes how genuine he was. I knew my Mom was in great hands.
We chatted over the next few weeks, and I learned he was expecting and just moved into a new house. I mustered up some courage and offered to create some memories for him and his wife after the baby was born if he would allow me. As a thank you for his exceptional care of my Mom.
Weeks went by and I was not sure if this opportunity was going to happen when I received the amazing news that he and his wife had welcome their beautiful daughter and would love for me to come and create some memories for them.
Being able to use my skills as a thank you for something he did for my family felt incredibly special. And I was honored.
Well when I arrived, and met his stunning wife, who is also a doctor and saw the most perfect little lady, I felt like I was dreaming.
Behind every doctor helping others is a human being with a story, a family, and people who are their whole world.
During the session, I didn't just see a brilliant neurosurgeon and palliative care doctor.
I saw a proud father and mother.
A devoted husband and wife.
A family overflowing with love.
What a privilege it is to witness people in both the chapters where they care for others... and the chapters where they are simply cherished themselves.
Welcome to the world, sweet baby. Your parents are already changing lives—and love you very much!
There are some sessions that stay with you long after the camera is packed away and this was definitely one of them.
