The very last place we went was to York. One of my favorite things about traveling to Europe is how easy it is to take a train and then how walkable a city is because it was built during the medieval period. I definitely can't bring my Expedition to those cities. York was a place of Viking and Roman history on top of just being a pivotal icon of English history.

Stonehenge is consider one of the ancient wonders of the world, but its so far from London I just had more important places to go. This might be one of my last trips here, so Carl and I decided to finally see it in person and yep it's just a bunch of rocks, but a really cool bunch of rocks. I'm glad I saw it! For this trip we did not hire out a tour. We took a train to Salisbury and then a bus to Stonehenge. Afterwards we saw some old ruins and and old church before taking the train back to London. I strongly suggest going this route if you go. The only suggestion I would make it taking the 4 pm train out of town. We took the 7:30 and the town was closed down with nothing to do. We sat at a pub playing hearts!

The second ceremony we saw was the Changing of the Horse Guards otherwise known as Changing of the Horse Whatever. This one we were able to get up close and personal. I wouldn't have even thought of doing this if it wasn't for our tour today!!

This is the my third trip to London and I decided it was the trip to experience things that I haven't seen or done before. One of which was actually see the changing of the guard which you need to plan for specific days. I decided on a walking tour to get the most of the experience and I highly recommend that method. We saw several different changes that I would have never seen before. The horses changing, the old guard coming in and the new guard leaving. We didn't see the behind the gate experience, but I think that is worth it because its hard to see and we would be squished and stuff there for hours. This way we got to see multiple ceremonies from multiple perspectives.

The Loire Valley is considered the Garden of France and it was stunning in his natural beauty. We spent several days visiting the many chateaus near Tours and Amboise. Driving through the country side is a whole different feel. Hardly any cars and just lots of fun towns driving between the two areas. As fun as it is to take public transportation while traveling its even more fun to see it from the way the local see it by car!
