Dog Flees Scene of Crash,
Finally Finds Forever Home ❤️🐾
Some of you may recall a two-vehicle crash that occurred at the intersection of SR-316 and Commercial Point Road in June 2025. Several occupants were transported to area hospitals, with at least one in serious condition.
One of the vehicles involved in the crash had a newly acquired Pitbull in the car. After the impact, the terrified Pitbull fled the area. It is essential to note that the family was not able to care for the newly acquired dog as several family members were still hospitalized from injuries incurred in the crash.
Within hours following the crash, several neighboring residents were asked to keep a watchful eye out for the missing dog and report its location if seen.
The following morning calls began to come into the Pickaway County Sheriff's Communications Center, as the shelter was closed at the time. DASH Animal Rescue was notified of the circumstances and was asked to assist. That week DASH Animal Rescue responded to several sightings, but by the time they arrived, the dog had vanished without a trace. At that point, DASH reached out to RICO Pet Recovery and Peg Leg Aerial Imaging, a professional thermal imaging drone service specialized in locating dogs and wildlife from high above.
After a week of calls with sightings throughout a two square mile area strategic drone flights went aloft and humane live traps were placed in several locations. The frightened dog was finally captured on June 15th at 10:18pm with the help of RICO and their volunteer Mark Evans, a professional dog trapper. The dog was immediately taken to a veterinarian for a thorough checkup. Mr. Evans then fostered the dog for several months.
RICO recently reported that Sarah and her family has adopted Jinu. (See photo below).
Jinu, (pronounced gee-new) was renamed after Sarah's daughter's favorite movie.
