The cyclocross season continued this weekend with Cyclo-X Louisville, brought to us as always by Without Limits Productions. Although the day was sunny and warm, it seems like the cold, wet weather a few days earlier helped keep it from being totally dry and dusty.

I was able to be out there from the first race, up through the Women's Open race, but had to leave early to head out to a senior portrait session, so I wasn't there for the juniors. Sorry Juniors!

You can find all my photos from the day on my website here:

I look forward to seeing everyone in a couple weeks on Halloween for Cyclo-X Boulder Rez! Don't forget your costume!

Back out there for some cyclocross on Saturday! This time, I was out at Schoolyard Cross at the Dawson School in Lafayette. I was able to be there for everything but the last two races of the day. So, Men 3 and Men Open, I missed you, but was out there for everyone else.

Kicking off the 2026 Cyclocross season at Harlow Platts Park in Boulder! Turned out to be a great day for a race. Moderate temps, puffy white clouds, a good turnout and some quality racing!

Another Senior Portrait session! This is Caleb from Riverdale Ridge HS. We actually went and did his photo session at the same locations with did his brother's photos about 5 years ago: starting in Denver's City Park, then driving a few minutes to the RiNo District for a more urban look.

We had a few minutes of rain and some gusty winds, but they passed through soon enough, and the rest of the session went great! I was sad to see one of my favorites buildings in the RiNo area has been painted some hideous colors since the last time I was there, but we were able to find some other nice spots. Truthfully, walking around down there, every time you turn around, you can find something interesting, so there were plenty of other opportunities.

If you're interested in scheduling your own Senior Portrait session, please get in touch and we can start coming up with a plan!

Got up early yesterday and headed out to the Rocky Mountain Arsenal National Wildlife Refuge to see what I could see. I got there a couple hours earlier than usual, hoping there might be a little more activity than I see during the hotter part of the day. Did one loop around the Wildlife Drive, and the full loop around Lake Ladora. I know people have seen badgers out there early in the morning recently, so I was hoping to spy one of those. No dice. There was actually very little going on. Quite a few hawks. More than usual. But they were either deep in the trees where my camera couldn't see, or they flew past before I even knew they were there.

So, a nice morning out, but not as much as I was hoping to see.

More senior portraits! This is Chloe from Riverdale Ridge HS. We had a beautiful evening out at the always-popular South Mesa Trailhead about a week ago. There was a bit of a weather forecast scare, but any rain blew through quickly about an hour before we got there, and it turned out to be fairly pleasant! After days of 100°+ temperatures, this was a nice change of pace.

With extreme temperatures and very little rain, this area was a lot drier than it's been in previous years, but we were able to find some little bits of green, and made good use of the golden grasses that we usually don't see as much until later in the fall.

Thanks Chloe, and I can wait to share the rest of your photos with you!

Another recent Senior Portrait session! This is Brooklyn from Riverdale Ridge HS. She wanted to do her photo session at Hudson Gardens in Littleton. One great thing about Hudson Gardens: when the rest of the state is roasting, brown and crispy, you can count on Hudson Gardens to be lush and green! This is such a fantastic spot for photo sessions! Unfortunately, I'm generally at the north end of the metro area, and this is down south, so I don't make it down this way very often.

We're in the part of the year when it's both blazing hot, while also having regular afternoon rain and thunderstorms, so we had our fingers crossed that it would all work out. After a bunch of 100-degree days, we were blessed with only the upper-90s for this session! We did end up with about 10 minutes of rain showers in the middle of the session. The weather radar made it look like it was going to get worse that evening, but while we were on our phones trying to figure out if we needed to reschedule, the rain tapered off, and we decided to soldier on. And it ended up being a beautiful evening for the rest of the session!

We had a great time out there, and I think the photos came out amazing!
