It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything here… In the intervening time, I decided it was high time I find my way out on track in something with 4 wheels, and for a number of reasons my Miata just isn’t the car for that in the short-medium term. Thankfully, FB Marketplace is a most retched hive of villainy and temptation, and this ‘88 944Spec car popped up for sale not too far away for a reasonable price. It needed a few things addressed, but with ’s help we got everything taken care of so I could get on track at with the Washington DC SCCA chapter last Saturday, and ho boy did a lot of friends show up! , and were playing around in Intermediate, where .eh2, and I were out in Novice, with it being first trackday for Jacob and I. The car ran like an absolute top the whole day, was INCREDIBLY balanced, and put up quite well with my lack of experience on track. Track days are more fun with friends, and this definitely won’t be the last time I’m out there this year! Photo cred to for putting up with me feeling like I was trying to exist in some fashion on both sides of the camera (I’ve gotta work on that…) and for making me look way faster than I am!

Pokebowl used nourish! It was super effective!

This has been a weird year/month/day, but getting one more day of great riding weather was what I needed. This bike has been running like a top too, it does absolutely everything I could ask of it on the street and looks good doing it!

Josh is the man, easily one of the hardest working guys I know, and the time I’ve spent shooting with and for him has made me a better photographer by an unknowable margin. It’s truly an honor to keep getting invited back to contribute to his work!

Evolve GT Track Days Today Me and the crew took over 5500 photos and 500 videos. I am not going to have them sorted by rider until late tomorrow , but I am uploading group previews along with video previews. It will likely take all night.

There they are. The big dogs (when the P2/DPi cars aren’t out to play). IMSA Michelin GT Challenge, comprised of GTD (green mirrors and endplates, pro-am driver lineup, and all customer teams, no factories allowed) and GTD-Pro (red mirrors and endplates, pro-pro driver lineups, and factory backed or ran teams can come play), both running identical spec FIA/SRO GT3 cars, so the speed difference between classes is 100% down to driver skill. These guys (and gals, as the case may be) are incredibly fun to watch, despite lapping being within 10-12sec of the ultimate track record at VIR, the racing is nice and close!

It wouldn’t be a proper IMSA weekend if there was no discussion of prototypes. While they aren’t the full fat LMP2 or DPi cars (IMSA bring them back to VIR!), the LMP3 cars that run in IMSA Prototype Challenge are still incredibly fun to watch, and the speed they carry through corners is just mind bending.

One of the other races at VIRginia International Raceway this past weekend was the IMSA Pilot Challenge, which is a combined GS (SRO GT4 machinery) and TCR series, which on more technical tracks makes for some interesting David v. Goliath battles. The TCR class this weekend was predominantly Hyundai, with a lone Honda Civic Type R TCR and only the second Alfa Romeo TCR I’ve seen! There was some GORGEOUS machinery in GS, the Mercedes AMG GT4 looks fantastic in just about any livery, the GR Supra looks proper as a race car, the Mustang looks shockingly at home in this class, and the Cayman 718 GT4 looks like it belongs on track even sitting still. With diversity in the field like this, Pilot Challenge is an incredibly fun series to watch, and finding someone to root for is easy!

Last weekend I got down to VIRginia International Raceway for the IMSA race weekend, and Mazda MX-5 Cup was one of the support series, and was probably the most entertaining series with more than 2 wheels I’ve seen in a while. It was hard to whittle down to these 10, everyone was putting on a hell of a show, but the guys at McCumbee McAleer Racing put together some beautiful cars and have some fantastic drivers that made my (unofficial, unpaid 😂) job as a photographer challenging and rewarding!
