Chimney Top Sunrise.

A shot of North Fork Mountain, looking towards the east. The shot in my previous post was taken just seconds before this one, but facing the south. I find it amazing how different the colors of a sunrise can be, depending on the direction you look.

North Fork Candy.

My buddy, Morgan Gardner and I hit a sweet overnight trip up to Chimney Top on North Fork Mountain this past weekend. When we got up for sunrise, it was zero degrees outside.

We had to employ the use of our crampons to get up there, as the trail was covered in a foot of frozen snow. Luckily, the steep hike had us nice and warm, arriving at camp in only two layers.

A Little Piece of Canada in the Appalachians.

The Allegheny Highlands are sometimes referred to as, “a little piece of Canada in the Appalachians,” due to their similarity in plant communities, animal species, and climate. Photographing the Aurora Borealis at Big Run Bog checked another box of that philosophy.
