Shenandoah Mountain.

Overcast conditions with the sun peaking through the clouds prompted me to whip out the drone this past weekend. Shenandoah Mountain in the George Washington National Forest is one of my favorite spots for all sorts of outdoor recreation. It’s got tons to offer, with far less crowds than Shenandoah National Park across the valley.

Asclepias tuberosa, Butterfly Milkweed.

I’ve been wanting to see this species in bloom for years, and somehow always end up in its habitat at the wrong time. Finally saw a bunch in some roadside ditches in the Piedmont of Virginia this past weekend… sick.
