Last year I attended as a volunteer. This year I came back as a full attendee thanks to Miah Hardy and — truly grateful for the opportunity.

As someone who’s done some independent podcast creation and is continuing to grow in the audio space, it felt really special to be surrounded by people who love storytelling through sound as much as I do.

Networking isn’t always easy for me, but this weekend reminded me that sometimes you just have to show up.

First slide - mail carriers are near and dear to my heart. Having grown up with a Black woman who worked hard 6 days of the week delivering mail is responsible for that.

Today would have been my grandmother Florence's 99th birthday. I never knew her despite having her name as my middle name. (the 'F' in EFIE)

My sister and I decided to unpack the mystery of her life and grapple with the parallels between her life story and our own. Please follow the podcast, leave a review and share. We are planning to keep this going as we approach Florence’s centenary year in 2025. This isn’t just the story of one woman, it’s a larger narrative about women, bodily autonomy, legacy and so much more. Enjoy!

On the 6th anniversary of my Uncle’s death I contemplate how new life and dying feel very similar to me
