Printed photos are cute for decor, but we’re discovering they serve a deeper purpose.

What your kids see every day matters. It’s not what’s saved in your phone or sitting on your computer or tablet. It’s what’s in front of them, what they see walking through your home. And for a lot of families, that part is missing.

My niece lights up walking through our homes and seeing herself throughout the years. It absolutely tells these babies you are loved, we care about you, you belong, and this is always be your safe space.

I’m not even gonna lie… this day tried me. Spoke at a breast cancer program that morning, got on the road to make it back for this session… and got rear-ended at a red light. Yeah. The devil was definitely busy.

I could’ve called it, but I didn’t. None of us had a single professional photo with my grandmother. Not one. So we made it happen anyway because we realize how important photos are.

And y’all this is what I do. I help families figure out schedules, get everybody together, and actually follow through on this because it matters.

Life will always try to interrupt what matters. Don’t let it!

I have to give credit where it’s due…

thank you for bringing your family together for this.

A mother, her son & daughter, and her grandson… the connection was already there. I didn’t have to do much at all. I just got to work.

And this is exactly why I say we’re photographing for the later, not just for right now. One day, this is going to mean a whole lot more than it does today.

When you book a family photoshoot, you want everything to be perfect. So you buy the coordinating outfits, pray for good behavior from the littles, and hope everybody is looking at the camera.

But y’all, literally none of that is what made this photo!

It’s this right here. The personalities. The way they interact with her. That’s what really matters. Baby, years from now, nobody’s going to care who was sitting still. Mom and these babies will only care about what they feel when they see this photo.

Not to sound too sappy, but that’s me. So if you’ve been overthinking your session, you don’t have to. I’ve got you.

She wasn’t having it this day!

Sis did not want to be put down, she didn't care about the setup. All she wanted was to be held.

So I put my camera down… and that’s exactly what I did.

My family sessions, especially these first birthday sessions, don’t run on pressure or perfection. We can’t rush it.

My parents book an hour, and if I’m being honest, I already know I might only get a solid 30 minutes. And that’s okay.

That’s the beauty of working with a photographer who knows how to work with kids. I stayed with her, worked around her, and waited for the moment to meet us.

And here’s the part… The crying photos and the “I’m over it” faces were the family favorites!

Fun fact: I've been with this family since Mom was pregnant with this sweet one's big sister who is about to be four years old. I mean it when I say I am a legacy photographer.

She is the self-appointed mini photographer of Kimarie Photography, and today is her birthday!

She came up with 90% of her poses. Brought all the sass and sweetness and didn’t need much direction.

I just stepped in and let her do what she was gonna do anyway.

No forcing. No “say cheese.” Just her being exactly who she is right now.

And that’s the whole point.
