Kelley Crandall & Sean's engagement photos are here!
I met Kelley at a spiritual retreat in 2017. She allowed me into her home, she'd never met me before she opened her doors to me. We became fast friends. I immediately felt home in her presence, and fell in love with how similarly we see the world.
Kelley is mama bear. She's a five-start food artist, a soulful singer, and a woman with deep faith in the universe. I love her dearly, and it makes me so happy we live in the same state now. Kelley asked me to take her engagement photos. I haven't done any photography shoots, for anyone, for just about as many years as I haven't seen Kelley. Photography became less of a passion of mine because I wasn't passionate about the business side of it, or the fact that being a photographer often means working weekends and holidays. But when Kelley asked me to take photos for her, my heart lit up. How could I not?
Spending time with these two reminded me a bit of where I started with photography; taking photos for friends and having the ability to be in my own creative process, with very little pressure. It's a feeling that for me, was slowly squashed out by evolving technology, the lack of appreciation for the work photographers do, and the fact that entering into contests and buying new equipment was financially not doable.
It was good to feel that my love for taking pictures isn't dead, just that I fell in love with a profession more suited for the kind of lifestyle I want to live. I love doing the things I love, especially for the people I love.
I'm thankful for people who put their trust in me to facilitate moments like these. I've been so blessed to have captured some of my friends' most intimate moments. I've photographed people. I've married people. And now I'm working my dream as a full-time massage therapist, giving people the love I have to give. I am, and have been, a part of so much love in people's lives. How much better does it get?
