Lucas and Karina visited from Brazil for an epic little road trip around Utah, Arizona, and Nevada. I met them just over the Utah border for some engagement photos in Buckskin Canyon and ended the day with an incredible sunset over Lake Powell.

I haven’t been as active here as I used to be but I’m still shooting weddings here and there. I published my book a few months ago and since then I’ve been putting in the time to learn video. While most of my focus is now being shifted to commercial work, I do still book weddings from time to time when it seems like a good fit. Nature really fu**ed us today.

When it comes to portraits, you won’t really find more flattering light than what you get with fog. So in pretty much any other situation I would have been stoked. Jack planned to propose to Kyra at the forest gump spot at Monument Valley but the fog totally blocked our view of pretty much everything beyond a couple dozen feet. This kind of fog in the desert is ridiculously rare. By noon, the fog still hadn’t lifted. Things don’t always go as planned but we can always try to make the most of it. We might as well get some flatteringly lit foggy portraits.

Packed as much as I could into this post. Michael and Maha’s wedding at The Ice House was a damn good time to shoot. After a quick first look downtown, we stopped by Valley Bar for a quick cocktail before heading to the venue. We made quick work of the family photos before the ceremony (a recent trend that I’m actually on board with). They went short and sweet with some of the reception formalities. They stuck to just the first dance, parent dances, and toasts. From there it was a rager. You can see more from this gallery on my site (link in bio).

Party Photos from last weekend. I just wrapped up all the edits. 6 days is the longest it’s taken me to edit a wedding in years. Sh*t’s been busy lately.

I tend to take pretty strong creative liberties these days when it comes to shooting open dancing. What was once a part of a wedding day that I treated with more of a traditional approach, I now kind of just try s**t. It’s a messy part of the day, I think the photos can be a bit messy too.
