Light needs something to grab onto…

When you wear flat fabrics from head to toe, the camera flattens your shape. There are no natural shadows to give the image weight.

Mix textures instead. Chunky knits, raw silk, heavy denim, or worn leather catch light on the ridges. It creates depth without doing any extra work.

Photoshoot day staples, must haves and non negotiables:

• large Power Surge from Robeks - Fresh Juice, Smoothies, Toasts & Bowls
• blush lip stain for the girlies
• Bobby pins
• bandaids
• Ricola Global herb drops so I’m not constantly reaching for my water jug

I’m sure there’s a couple things I’m missing buttttt these are the mains.. I’ve gotten lucky to not NEED much but now that I’ve said it out loud 🤭

You can be as intentional as you want..

But sometimes- when you’re really in the flow, you just capture as your eye moves through the lens and images end up surprising you. Like this one.

There were so many beautiful, intentional images taken on this day, but this one slipped past me and when going back through it really touched me. Holding her grandmother’s handkerchief up to her face in a moment where everyone had left to go to the reception site and it was just the two of them (and our media team😂) under her veil.

It was a moment where it felt like I wasn’t even there.. and those are the images that anchor me into the love of what I do.

Reminiscing on this quiet, romantic, giddy courthouse turned beach elopement in Carlsbad, Ca.

You know the ones.. only family surrounding you under the courthouse gazebo to hear you both officially say “I do”.

Yanett + Giovanni found each other at the perfect time in each other’s lives and couldn’t wait to get their lives started together. I met Yanett two years ago at the gym I go to and we clicked pretty instantly.

I’m honored she has asked me to shoot the two of them twice now and had a blast joining them and meeting their loved ones on this day.

28 years I’ve know this woman…
She’s always been a “somethin simple” kinda gal

Now she’s got the house on the hill and the horses in the yard.. just like I knew she would. I’ve seen you through so many stages of life and this one is by far my favorite. I love watching you be a mama and wife more than I can even explain.

You’re still the spunky Kay I’ve always known though and that’s something I admire about you so much!
