When all the wedding planning has paid off, you’re married, and you finally get to relax in the sunshine. ☀️

So honored that Denise & Philip chose me to run around the redwood forest with them and photograph their wedding!

During their portraits, Denise asked if they could go lay in the grass. I was a little confused at first, but I said, “You can do whatever you want—it’s your wedding day!” 😂

And I am SO glad they did because this ended up being one of my favorite photos from the day. Just the two of them flopped down in the grass, taking in the sunlight and enjoying being married.

My hot take: just being yourself on your wedding day makes for the best photos. 🫶

Laguna Beach Engagement Session 🌊✨

Less than 3 weeks until I get to capture Denise & Philip’s wedding day in Santa Cruz, and I could not be more excited!!

We took their engagement photos back at the end of May, and honestly... it’s my fault I haven’t shared them until now. 🫣

But in my defense, I was only about 4 weeks post-leg surgery and was hanging on for dear life trying to give all of my couples the attention they deserved... in between naps. 😂

Thankfully, I’m feeling so much stronger now, and I can’t wait to celebrate these two (without my boot) in just a few weeks. If their engagement session is any indication, their wedding day is going to be absolutely incredible. 🤍
P.S. Does anyone want photos in Big Sur? I do have to drive right through there 😉

“How are you with flash?”

Honestly... you tell me. 😂

I used to only love shooting in natural light, but over the last few years I’ve completely fallen in love with flash photography.

The photos in this video are from wedding receptions, but honestly, I’ve started pulling out the flash during the day too, depending on the lighting. I love the polished, editorial feel it can add to a photo when it’s used intentionally.

For me, flash isn’t just about lighting up a dark room—it’s another creative tool that helps tell your story and create images that stand out.

At the end of the day, my goal is to use whatever lighting works best for the moment, so your gallery feels beautiful from the first photo of the day to the last song on the dance floor. 🤍
