I feel like Facebook and I have been going through a bit of a bad breakup lately.

I stopped calling. I stopped texting. I definitely stopped posting.

But I have so much sitting in my camera roll that deserves to be here.

So here I am to say I’m so grateful for the families who give me the freedom to create. Who trust my eye, follow my direction, and let me photograph what is actually there instead of worrying about whether every frame looks the way they imagined it would.

That kind of trust is such a gift. It gives me room to notice things. To follow the light. To let a moment unfold. To make something that feels honest to the people in front of my camera.

Southern California gives us something really special this time of year.

While so much of the country is packing away summer, we’re stepping into some of the most beautiful light of the entire year. The beaches become quieter, the evenings feel softer, and it’s one of my favorite seasons to photograph families.

Last week I hosted my first shootout, and I’ve been struggling to find words that feel big enough for what it meant to me.

I keep coming back to one thought:

What an incredible privilege it was to invite people into something so vulnerable and sacred.

My heart.

Thank you to the ladies who trusted me enough to come, to create, and to witness this story along side me. I’ll carry this one for a long time.

The older I get, the less interested I am in trying to create work that everyone likes.

I think there is something really important about finding a photographer whose way of seeing feels honest to you. Not because one style is better than another, but because photographs become part of your family’s history. The person documenting them matters.

Some people want perfectly directed portraits, and there are photographers who do that beautifully. What I hope to create is something that feels observed instead of orchestrated.

My work isn’t for everybody, and I’ve realized that’s exactly how it should be. The families who value this way of remembering their lives will always be the right fit for it.

I’ve been thinking a lot about why this place has stayed with me.

Maybe it’s because an elopement strips everything away until all that’s left is what matters.

Two people.
A promise.
A willingness to step into the unknown together.

Watching them stand at the edge of something so vast, I couldn’t stop thinking that marriage asks this of us over and over again.

To trust.
To choose each other.
To keep walking forward without knowing exactly what the landscape ahead will look like.

Maybe that’s why wild places feel like they were made for love stories.

They remind us that love has never been about certainty.

It’s always been about choosing to take the next step together.
