My journey with photography started around the age of 14 with a GoPro, filming my brother kiteboarding in our backyard on Lake Huron. 17 years later and he’s still one of my favorite subjects! Finally had a rainy morning to go through all the pictures from our Florida trip a couple weeks ago, had a fun light wind day at Sanibel. If there’s a puff of wind he’ll be out there 🤙 always the best time when we’re together Blake

Damselfly perched on a leaf for a moment of rest 🍃

Damselflies are close cousins to dragonflies, but have a weaker, more fluttery flight. At rest, they usually hold their wings upright or folded along their body, while dragonflies hold their wings horizontally.

They are easy to tell apart by the eyes. Damselflies have separated eyes on each side of the head, while dragonflies have huge eyes that nearly touch.

Although we mostly see them as winged insects, damselflies spend much of their lives underwater as aquatic nymphs, where they are active predators. They emerge into adulthood by shedding their nymph skin, expanding their wings, and flying off.

This one was so small I could barely see it, and focusing on it between gusts of wind was a challenge. Tiny and easy to miss, but worth slowing down for!

This brown male anole is showing off his bright orange dewlap, a throat fan used for communication.

Most likely he’s saying, “You want to start a street fight with me bring it on but you’re gonna be surprised by how ugly it gets, you don’t even know my real name- I’m the lizard king!”

Happy Mother’s Day! I was so happy to see an oriole in our backyard for the first time yesterday! The best part was getting to share the excitement with my mom while she was over. I might have scared her with my excited yelling out the window, she thought something bad had happened 😅 I was just in awe of this beautiful bird! I had only put the oranges out an hour ago and couldn’t believe my luck. Orioles symbolize joy and good fortune, something my mom is always bringing to my life!🍊
