Happy birthday to this not so little guy. This photo was taken about 10-11 years ago. Now he is 16years old and almost 6ft tall! Time goes quickly. So, I thank God for this photo.
Not long ago I did photography for the general public. I loved it and worked hard at it. Now I rarely shoot for anyone anymore. I basically put my camera down for almost everyone and only shoot for those who ask me via text because THEY know me personally and trust me as much as I trust them.
I quit for a couple of reasons.
1. My health, physical and mental.
2. Unhappy humans - the “general public” are unhappy, overly pessimistic and critical in areas they have no knowledge of.
People want something “cheap”, not practical. They ask for discounts on a service they can’t afford and don’t help small businesses like me grow by tagging their photographers.
Photography isn’t difficult - anyone can snap a shutter. But the Art of it is what only some can achieve.
Making people laugh and feel safe. Making them fall in love with the memory of a moment that has passed; one they now get to hold onto. THAT is why I love photography so much!
Too many people don’t appreciate the value of a photography session, the time, energy and effort that the artist puts into their work. Maybe it’s because we live in an “instant gratification” kind of world now.
I would love to pick my skill back up, because I am good at what I do and it brings me joy. But if I do, I will limit my clientele and location of services. I will only concentrate on Families and Children. My prices will increase over time and if my clientele doesn’t appreciate me or my skill, that’s going to be fine. Those people can find a “cheaper” artist elsewhere.
