Went to the zoo here in Tampa over the weekend with my son. Had a fun time. Weather was beautiful, slight breeze the whole time and in the 70's. Hadn't been here in years and they have really improved the zoo. I would recommend it for anyone.

Went to New Orleans this weekend. Wandered around a fair bit. Stayed in the Business Center near downtown and the French Quarter. Got to go to the National WWII Museum (highly recommend you go if you're ever in NOLA). Traveled up and down the French Quarter. Went to the Garden District and visited the Lafayette Cemetary No. 1. All in all a great visit. I'll add photo descriptions tomorrow. Hope you all enjoy.

Neat little town west/northwest of Fredericksburg. Historic downtown of Culpeper is located on top of a hill. Cute shops line the cross streets. Worth a quick day trip down there to check it out.

Part 2 of my around the DC area photos. Cool day in the 40's, but the Botanical Gardens were nice and humid. It was nice to take photos of plants again. Florida is naturally tropical plant heavy so it was a welcome relief to have many different types here. I think some of these came out pretty well. Hope you all enjoy them.

Up in DC for a couple of weeks. Stopped by the Mall over the weekend. First stop was the Museum of Natural History. Few photos from walking up to it and then I spent a lot of time in the gems and minerals section. I hadn't seen the Hope Diamond and was looking to go there but unfortunately that particular exhibit was closed. But the other section was open. Part 1 of 3 of photos.

Up in DC for the week. Went to the National Arboretum which is significantly off the beaten path in DC, but a very interesting place to walk around in. Spent about three hours wandering around the park and though not many of the plants were in bloom, I think I got a lot of halfway decent shots in here. Hope you enjoy them.

Spent Monday trying to get a bunch of stuff done and were somewhat unsuccessful at seeing everything. We started off at the St. Augustine History Museum then went over to the Oldest Store. By that time it was almost lunch and we wanted to try the restaurant at the Ice Plant which is now the St. Augustine Distillery. After a brief trip to the Whetstone Chocolates store (great chocolate BTW), we made our way to the St. Augustine Plaza and went through the Episcopal Church off the southern end of the Plaza to see all the stained glass windows inside. After that it began to do a rather well sustained Florida downpour for a while. We made our way back to our car and started the trek back across Florida to Tampa. Which was a trick with the heavy rain, Orlando rush hour traffic, and your typical Florida drivers. All in all, a good visit though. Definitely want to head back there and just walk around the downtown area for a while.

Second in a three part series of St. Augustine, Florida photos. After the beach/sunrise pictures we headed into town and were super tourists. We took the trolly tour through town and then stopped at the northern end and began working our way into the center of town to the south. We saw the Fountain of Youth, the Nombre de Dios Catholic Church and grounds, Flagler College, Grace Methodist Church, and a tiny bit of the downtown plaza.

Long time since my last update. I had a weird temporary assignment in my job during the summer which allowed me to go out on weekdays to take photos. But it's returned to a normal schedule since October. However, I was able to go out to St. Augustine, Florida over the weekend. It's something I was planning on doing for a while now. It coincided with my 10th wedding anniversary so my wife Leslie and I went out there and saw the sights. This is part one of the photos. We got up in the morning at our hotel and wanted to see the sunrise. Well, the weather didn't cooperate. In addition to being rainy, it was windy and cold. So it was a very gray beach experience. But I think we were still able to get some good photos out of it.

Went to the Henry Plant Museum today located on the campus of the University of Tampa. Very different set for me. First, I forgot that college campus parking sucks universally. So I wound up having to park on the other side of the Hillsborough River and walk in that way. Once inside, they maintain the lighting at the levels they were in the 1890's, which is to say very dim lighting (some of the first use of the light bulbs in here). Because it was so dim and because flash photograph is not allowed, it was tricky to get shots. Still did, but it was interesting. As always thanks to Taco Bus for my after session meal. Love their food. And thank you for taking a look at these photos. Hope you enjoy them and let me know what you guys think.
