Land O'Lakes jumped out to a six-run lead on Plant in a Class 6A-Region 3 quarterfinal showdown, only to see the Panthers answer and force extra-innings.

But the Gators put two aboard with singles in the eighth and forced a rushed play as Jose Leger got the job done and earned 42-year Land O'Lakes head coach Calvin Baisley his 700th career victory.

A whirlwind 12 months saw Plant High alum Jac Caglianone go from standout, two-way college phenom to Major League Baseball player. He will head to his second Spring Training camp next week, and has earned a spot on Team Italy for March's World Baseball Classic.

But first the 2021 PHS alum stopped by Wade Boggs Field for the Panthers preseason opener as his No. 14 jersey number was added to the impressive list of Plant's retired numbers along the outfield wall.

"This is something I’m going to take a lot of pride in. These guys up on that wall – those are some big names – so to have my name up there, too, it’s pretty surreal," he told 813Preps.
