❄️ If you could use some snowy Christmas ambience, our new video today is for you! The snowfall is absolutely beautiful in this one! It randomly changes rates and wind intensities for 3 hours without looping. 😯 This features the same instrumental Christmas carols as our fireplace video, but with the fireplace and indoor wind sounds replaced by outdoor winter wind, as if you're standing in this European Christmas village. We put 12 Hollywood special effects in our new Christmas music video, and that made it take 79 HOURS to render a 3-hour video! 😱 This 25-sec. clip reveals the layers of how we created this scene, but it only points out the 4 different types of effects and not all 12 instances. Can you spot the 12 independently moving pieces? 😯

Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS flying over ’s Gandy Bridge in tonight! It was a lot brighter last night. I wasn’t expecting it to fade this much, this fast; so I hope this was just an optical illusion of a slightly hazy sky and/or extra light pollution in this location. But I like this composition with the bridge and Florida palm trees! It was also nice to run into 2 other photographers tonight.

Can’t believe I was able to photograph Comet Tsuchinshan-ATLAS with my iPhone through the city lights of Clearwater, Florida tonight (Oct. 13)! This is accurate to how it looked to the naked eye after you get in a dark place and let your eyes adjust.

It will be visible every night from now until Oct. 26, but will get fainter each night. Don’t miss it! Go out for sunset and stay for the because it appears right above where the sun set, right before the colored glow disappears from the sky. The is brightest as soon as it appears, then fades out over approx. 45 min.

We are sad to learn completely destroyed the Pier, where we took this iconic lightning sunset photo in June. Photos of what is left of this pier today were taken by others on the scene. This was a very long pier with a large pavilion at the end, and now all that wood is strewn along the shoreline. We are safe on the other side of with no real damage, but many places in the Bay Area got severe flooding.

Mother Nature seemingly threw a PARTY to celebrate the completion of our goal to film sunset every night for a whole year! 🤩 The party started with a rare, unobstructed view of a rare, NEON PINK Sun. As the Sun touched the horizon, so started the longest flock of birds we've ever seen! This flock was so huge, it took over 30 seconds to fly by, as seen in the video. And this was just one of many giant flocks that night, easily totalling over 1,000 birds. It was as if Mother Nature invited every Ibis in Tampa Bay to say thank you for filming us this year. 🥹

All these bird activities set new records for us, but that wasn't all! This was followed by a panoramic sky of bright, long-lasting sunset colors and a few other record sightings! But I'll never forget standing here with my jaw literally dropped 😮 as this flock just kept coming.

This is a clip from a longer video we plan to release one day. Filmed on Aug. 14, 2024, the end of a wonderful year of making sunset videos!
