This has been the year from, well, let's just say it's been quite a challenge.

The year started off with the belly covering on the RV getting nearly ripped off due to a factory service error that took place last year. That was eventually fixed by the factory at no charge this year.

Then the water pump needed replacing. Turns out it was leaking through the electrical connector of all places! Some of the felt basement wall coverings had soaked up some of the water but it didn't appear like it had soaked into the flooring.

Up in the middle of nowhere Minnesota we noticed the passenger side slide topper had ripped pretty bad and was close to coming completely off of its mounting bracket. That was eventually fixed (about 3-4 weeks later) when we swung back through Elkhart, IN. Couldn't find any other mobile techs that could help before then. While there I paid some extra $$ to have someone wash and put a ceramic coated shine on the RV. More expensive than I had thought it might be but they did a great job.

And while I was at the campground I noticed that I couldn't get my water heater to work on propane but it worked fine on electric. By luck, a mobile tech pulled in next to me and helped me track it down to what should have been an easy to find wire coming loose from the back of the switch. I could have fixed that but I had minimal tools with me and we started troubleshooting backwards - from the most complex to the simplest. When will we learn?

I think I mentioned before the switch problem with one of my solar inverters that caused it to not produce AC power. Apparently happened at the factory when the belly covering was replaced but even after checking everything I never noticed that switch was in the wrong position. I know I even moved it through its different positions and apparently never got it back into its correct position. That's on me (uggghhh).

Because of the apparent issues too many people were having with their Battleborn lithium batteries installed as part of their solar upgrades, I decided to have mine replaced even though I saw no apparent adverse effects - yet. But they were a safety and fire hazard so out they went. $2500 to replace them and to chase down a wiring gremlin I've had probably since day one. Only to notice that the flooring in my basement was rather soft. Oh no - water damage. I know that the water outlet next to the entry door was leaking a few years ago and that was capped off; apparently it was a slow leak that was running down the inside wall onto the floor under the vinyl covering and wasn't visible or noticeable. Probably just have to get a couple of pieces of 3/4" plywood to lay down on top of the existing flooring and cover it in vinyl to match as closely as possible.

And not RV related, about a week after I got home I noticed our home lift station sewer pump was throwing fault codes so that had to be replaced as well. Fortunately that one was on the city. They had to look to find a new pump (old style, not made any more) and completed that fix yesterday.

There's three and a half months left this year; what else can go wrong? (Hopefully nothing...)

Found the problem with my solar inverters and why line 2 wasn't generating AC. It was a "simple" switch. I saw that switch and made sure they were both set to the same as line 1. Apparently it doesn't take much to move it (it's a 3-position switch) and even though I managed to get it set right, I "unset" it when I moved my hand away. Ugh....

On another note - I've decided I'm going to get rid of the Battleborn batteries I'm currently using. They've been shown, and proven, to be dangerous in the way they were manufactured and the company will NOT stand by their 10-year warranty. They're even suing at least one person (an electrical engineer) whose been making videos of what he's found when testing the batteries and even what's "behind the scenes" when tearing them down. They're a dangerous shock and fire hazard at the very least. So since I'm currently working with my original solar installer I'm having him replace all of them. Not cheap but much safer especially if I decide to sell the RV for a smaller class c.

This is new. I've been waiting for over a week for a mobile tech to come replace my passenger side slide topper. Been pushed back for the last several days because of the rain that's been sweeping through the area the last several days (understandable but frustrating). The most unconscionable thing is he never returns my calls to get updates. Well, today I finally get ahold of him and he wants me to drive to his facility! Me driving to a mobile tech to get service. How quaint...

Oh the joys of having a cat with you in an RV. I haven't mentioned this before but our cat periodically throws up right after she eats. It seems like it's on about a 3-week time frame. Not really a big deal especially if she throws up on our vinyl floor or throw rug.

Yesterday sometime during the day, she threw up in our bed. And we didn't notice it until we went to bed late last night. Oh what fun; here we are really needing to get some sleep and we have to change the sheets and bedding before we can zzzz out.

So today is laundry day. Yippee.

RV cleaned and waxed. Hot water heater (propane side) working again. Lesson learned (again)? Troubleshooting - start with the simplest thing first, not the most difficult. Passenger side slide topper needs replacing before we hit the road again.

A few days ago I mentioned that our cat Furgi get her first mouse. What I didn't mention was that she just played with it and it managed to get away before I could get to it.

Last night (or really early this morning, like around 5am) she got another one; or maybe it was the same one. This time she managed to kill it so I could grab it and throw it outside. So - GOOD GIRL FURGI!!

In other news, I managed to screw up - TWICE yesterday. Actually, the first time was 3-4 days ago when I was trying to make reservations at this state park. I really don't like the way they ask you to choose the dates because it automatically sets the range based on your mouse clicks and if you ever mis-select a date or want to start over, it creates a whole new date range for you. Sometimes it'll do that even when you don't know it. It happened once before earlier this year in south Florida so I usually keep a close eye on things like this. This time it messed me up as I wanted to reserve from Saturday for the next five days. Turns out it reserved starting Sunday for the next five days. So when I got here and saw someone in "my" site, I got curious. Checked the reservation and that's when I noticed the problem. So I scrambled to find another site for the night and there was one left. I grabbed it before someone else did.

Mistake number 2. The site was 408E. I knew where it was so I went ahead to pull into the site. I was driving along and reading the site numbers and I came to 408. It wasn't 408E so I pulled into the next one. After I got set up I noticed it was 409! There was no 408E. Called the campground number and told them what I had erroneously done and asked if there was someone coming into site 409. The answer, of course, was yes so I hooked back up and moved the RV; it only took about 30 minutes so it wasn't that bad. And as you can imagine, no one ever came to occupy site 409. I hope they lost everything they paid for their site.

It's moving day today! Only 74 miles but close to two hours of driving. Most of the rain passed by last night and the sun just started peeking through the clouds so it should be a good day to travel. There's one stretch of road that is kinda rough (we drove over it a few days ago) so that will slow us down some. Need some time to edit more of the photos I took at the Vince Shupe Wildlife Sanctuary a couple of days ago.
