⁣I decided to submit a few images to a couple months ago for their 2020 Calendar Photo Contest and won the December slot with this image. Mt Ashland is the highest peak in the Siskiyou Mountains @ 7,533 ft and offers skiing, snowboarding, cross country & snowshoeing during the winter. The mountain is just 8.6 miles north of Ashland, Oregon and can be seen from town. ⁣

I found these in a small park loaded with wood chips in Jacksonville, Oregon. The small town of Jacksonville is considered a National Historic Landmark with roots in the gold rush era of the 1850’s. Being only a 12 minute drive from my house, I’ve spent many days in the last decade documenting fungi in and around the town. It is one of my favorite places for urban mushroom hunting.⁣

Craterellus calicornucopioides is found in magical, fairytale-like settings in the coastal forests of the PNW. I recently spent an entire day documenting rarely observed fungi in this region and managed to fill a bag of Chanterelles, Candy Caps, and Black Trumpets in between.
