Now that the weather has warmed, the insects have become more active and I was able to spend some time over the weekend in the yard with the camera. This is a turfgrass ant that I found feasting on a clump of (and I'm not making this up) *dog vomit slime mold* in the yard.

This is a fairly small ant (actual size 2mm) shot around 4x magnification.

A little jumping spider that I found yesterday in Scottsdale, AZ. He was a very cooperative little fellow, who amazingly tolerated me smashing my flash diffuser into the bush where he was perched to get close enough for the photo.
