So, what’s next?
While Melissa Kilner Photography has closed its doors, I am not done behind the camera! I have created a portrait studio called Brazen House Studios in Tacoma, WA to produce portraits that are everything-like and nothing like what I have done before. It’s an indoor studio that combines modern yet simple portraits with the experience of telling life stories, along with some graphic art along the way. I am not here to create the “perfect” image, I am here to document the *real* you. It’s a space to celebrate all that you are, and not all the things that we think the world is telling us to be.
What does that even look like? It means you come into the studio before your shoot and we talk about who you are, what your life is like, and the parts of you that want to be seen. Some people are just here for the portraits, some people come in and tell stories from their life on camera as part of the experience. The hope is to create a safe and non-judgmental space for you to feel the ease and freedom of no longer feeling the pull to be anything that you aren’t. People tell stories of the trials of motherhood, feeling lost or depressed, big life changes, or challenges they have overcome, etc. It’s a place to be real and to feel the love and acceptance that comes with letting your guard down.
