Chambers Bay Pedestrian Bridge

I was shooting at sunset, trying to capture the interplay between shadows and low light with the dramatic sky. My favorite part of the picture is how the structural lines of the bridge creates perspective, focusing your eyes to the activity on the bridge and to the lights of the McNeil Island Ferry dock in the distance.

I was really happy with how the composition created a sense of place in a wide image. Thanks

Ann Lake from the Maple Pass Loop

Ann Lake from the Maple Pass Loop. Once you gain enough elevation, the scenery becomes absolutely breathtaking. There's something spectacular no matter where you look. It's hard to decide where to point the camera next. Beautiful and overwhelming at the same time.

The Weight of What Remains, Corral Pass, Washington, 2026

I made The Weight of What Remains at Corral Pass, Washington, on an August morning. The 2017 Norse Peak Fire transformed the forest here, and the standing dead trees immediately caught my attention.

What made me stop for this particular composition was the relationship between the dark foreground stumps and the layers of fire-shaped snags behind them. I wanted the stumps to give the photograph weight and presence while the standing trees gradually receded through the forest toward the distant ridge.

I photographed the scene with a Nikon Z7 and developed the final image as an expressive black-and-white interpretation rather than a literal record of the light.

During processing, I worked carefully with the tonal separation between the foreground, middle distance, and subdued background so the image would retain depth without becoming overly dramatic.

For me, the photograph is less about destruction than about what remains after a landscape has been changed.

Dahlia Garden at Pt. Defiance Park in Tacoma, WA

Pt. Defiance Dahlia Garden is my favorite place to take photos in the summer. Every flower there is so unique and gorgeous. I love macro photography. I am new to photography, working with a Sony A7III. I am self-taught through lots of books and research. The settings on this photo may not totally make sense because of this. I used my Sony Macro Lens FE 2.8/90. I use Adobe Lightroom Classic. Photo settings are ISO 3200, 90mm f/2.8, 1/8000 sec.
