5 hills I will die on as a motherhood photographer:
1. You don’t need the ethereal tulle dress. Stop treating the floaty gown like the maternity uniform. I took my own maternity photos in a Canadian tuxedo and Vans. The point is to document the sacred journey you and your baby are on, NOT to stress about what you’re wearing.
2. The best sessions look nothing like the basic ones. This is your chance to do whatever you want >> be brave, babe! Your family’s ritual is bike rides and ice cream? I’ve got a bike too, let’s go. A sentimental memory you want to recreate with your kids? I’ll bring the hype. A niche Pinterest dream? Let’s f*cking do it! There’s NO reason your session has to look the way motherhood photos are “supposed” to. BE BOLD.
3. You might come for the fridge pic, but you’ll fall in love with the story shots. My style isn’t posed, it’s gently prompted. We’ll get one or two of everyone smiling at the camera, but clients fall hardest for the playful ones: little hands in yours, pant legs pulled up before the puddles, that scrunchy-nose grin when they’re testing their comedic timing.
4. You will NEVER regret these photos. Even if it’s just your iPhone and not me (I’d be honored, but that’s beside the point). Snap a few with your bump or your babies in an outfit, beat, or hairdo that makes you feel beautiful. You and your future kids will cherish them. I promise.
5. You don’t need to lose the weight, girl. That number lives only in your head, and your kids don’t care if it starts with a 1, a 2, or a 3. They remember how you make them FEEL: how you let them be them, how you took them to places they loved, and how you invited them into your day. Stop holding yourself back over a number that means nothing. I promise to help you feel beautiful in our time together, no matter what.
Which hill are you standing on with me? Tell me below.
