Syria day 5 with
We left Aleppo to head back to central Syria. In the morning we stopped to see the ruins of St Simon’s church, a 5th century cathedral that was the largest church in the world at its time. The we ventured further south to Krak des Chevaliers, an incredible crusaders castle perched on a hilltop in Homs Valley.

Hello Aleppo
Day 4 in Syria with we visited the second largest city in the country: Aleppo. The city sustained a lot of destruction from both the civil war and the earthquake in 2023. Yet in the middle of it all there was still so much beauty and optimism with an ancient fortified city in the middle of the old town and vibrant souq that is being rebuilt from the rubble.

Day 3 with
Today we drove from Damascus to Syria’s second city, Aleppo in the north. The drive was gorgeous and on the way we stopped at a few incredible historic Christian monasteries. The first was in Ma’aloula where we learned about Takla, the first woman Christian martyr. Then we drove and hiked up to Mar Musa, high in the mountains and saw some of the most amazing frescoes from the 11th century.

Really special being here with during the Ramadan season. The evening they have special Tanoura dancing in local tea houses with traditional music and singing.

The road to Damascus.
Today we drive from Beirut, Lebanon, across the border into Syria 🇸🇾. The drive took us to one of the world’s oldest and most significant cities. Today was just day one of our 7 trip through this amazing country with
