Had an amazing time shooting with Alli Barker for Wasatch Forward | Connecting Creatives with Purpose to promote their upcoming benefit concert- Waves in the Wasatch! Please notice the (depressingly) poetic lack of water in the background even though we are standing on the lake bed.

This concert was created to raise awareness and support the conservation of our one and only Great Salt Lake. Between the threat of toxic arsenic dust and the devastating loss of natural resources, saving the lake must be a top priority for our politicians, and for all of us who value the wellbeing of Utah now & always.

If you care about protecting The Great Salt Lake just like we do, come out and support the show! Here are the details:

Place: Metro Music Hall, Salt Lake City, Utah
Date: August 28th
Time: Doors open at 5:00 PM!

Dresses and muddy hands!

Some kids love to keep their outfits pristine, and some prefer to spend the end of our session throwing rocks and dirt into the creek. Neither way is wrong.

My goal as a photographer is always to capture your children exactly as they are… wild, quiet, messy, or refined. Let them be little, and let them be themselves. ❤️

When I first stepped onto these shores as a newcomer to Utah back in 2020, the sheer expanse took my breath away. Instantly anchoring my soul to this wild landscape. It is more than just a beautiful backdrop for my lens; it is a sacred, living sanctuary that demands our protection and reverence before its quiet magic fades into dust. I hate seeing the water receded further and further. I hate seeing the dead birds littering the beaches. This beautiful lake deserves all the attention.

My firstborn turned 9 in May, and yes, I’m slow to post, so no judging! 🤣 Getting him out for his yearly photoshoot always makes me reflect on how far we’ve come.

Before he ever started school, back when he was in occupational therapy as a little guy, I used to worry so much. I stayed up nights terrified that he would fall behind. But he has spent the last few years doing the absolute opposite in every single facet of life.

Not only did he catch up, but he thrives. He is consistently at the top of his class, the most well-behaved student, and wise beyond his years. Being neurodivergent, he has an incredible dedication to structure and routine, and he uses that focus in the most loving way to keep our whole world on track. He keeps me in line whenever I’m slacking! He is always on time, on point, and giving 100%. Watching the boy who I used to worry about become the leader he is today is my greatest joy.

Oh, to experience life through a child’s eyes.
