Bald Eagle
It was a good day today—one I won’t forget anytime soon.
After years of scanning lakeshores, treetops, and open skies, I finally found them. Not just one, but two bald eagles, perched side by side as if keeping silent watch over their realm.
Though conservation efforts have helped their numbers rise again, seeing them in the wild still feels like a rare privilege. They are not birds one simply stumbles upon—they appear when the moment is ready for them. And today, perhaps, it was.
What struck me most was their gaze. So steady. So commanding. It wasn’t merely a glance—it was an awareness that seemed to meet mine with equal intensity.
It was as if they were saying, “Take your pictures if you must—but know that we are watching you too.”
That look carried a weight, a quiet authority that reminded me why the bald eagle was chosen as the national bird of the United States—a living symbol of freedom, strength, and unbending spirit.
As I stood there, camera in hand, I felt both humbled and honored. The moment wasn’t just about finally capturing a photograph I had long hoped for. It was about being seen in return—by two beings that seemed to embody the wild soul of this land itself.
