Bald Eagle

It was a good day today—one I won’t forget anytime soon.

After years of scanning lakeshores, treetops, and open skies, I finally found them. Not just one, but two bald eagles, perched side by side as if keeping silent watch over their realm.

Though conservation efforts have helped their numbers rise again, seeing them in the wild still feels like a rare privilege. They are not birds one simply stumbles upon—they appear when the moment is ready for them. And today, perhaps, it was.

What struck me most was their gaze. So steady. So commanding. It wasn’t merely a glance—it was an awareness that seemed to meet mine with equal intensity.

It was as if they were saying, “Take your pictures if you must—but know that we are watching you too.”

That look carried a weight, a quiet authority that reminded me why the bald eagle was chosen as the national bird of the United States—a living symbol of freedom, strength, and unbending spirit.

As I stood there, camera in hand, I felt both humbled and honored. The moment wasn’t just about finally capturing a photograph I had long hoped for. It was about being seen in return—by two beings that seemed to embody the wild soul of this land itself.

Our nearest galactic neighbor, the Andromeda Galaxy (M31), stretches over 220,000 light-years and shines with spiral arms of young blue stars and dark dust lanes. At about 2.5 million light-years away, it’s the farthest object you can see with the naked eye—and in 4 billion years it will grace our night sky even more as it drifts into the Milky Way. Truly a cosmic reminder of the grandeur and scale of our universe!

Zabriskie Point's badlands were formed by the erosion of sediments from the now-evaporated Lake Manly. Over millions of years, fine silt and volcanic ash washed into the lake, creating thick deposits of clay and sandstone. Subsequent flooding, most notably in 2004, further eroded the landscape, creating the gullies and ridges seen today. Zabriskie Point is named after Christian Zabriskie, an executive with the Pacific Coast Borax Company in the early 20th century.

Mount Kailash isn’t just a snow-capped peak—it’s the eternal home of Lord Śiva and his divine family, the cosmic axis where heaven and earth meet. Pilgrims from across the world walk the 52 km parikrama around its base, bathing in the pristine waters of Lake Mānasarovar to cleanse their karma and renew their spirit. Every step circling this sacred mountain is a journey inward, drawn by the magnetic pull of Śiva’s grace.
