Be careful if you have any plans with your moms this Mother's Day if you live in the Southern Plains. We have an enhanced storm risk for the late afternoon hours in central Texas. It will bring large to very large hail greater than 2 inches and strong winds potentially greater than 70mph. The DFW Metro can expect severe storm activity this evening with softball sized hail(4") and scattered strong winds of up to 80mph. Some tornadoes are possible as well.

Let's take a look into tomorrow's storm outlook:

Strong storms are expected to start in the western part Texas and southern New Mexico in the afternoon hours around 3pm CST. Towns affected by this initial push include El Paso, TX...Midland, TX...Las Cruces, NM.

A 2% tornado threat is present in that initial push for towns surrounding Fort Stockton, TX.

Scatted severe storms will move northeast throughout Texas, New Mexico, southeast Colorado, and Kansas bringing high winds and large hail.

As the storms moves throughout those states, they will form into a squall line which will stretch from central Texas into lower Kansas and continue northeast.

A 2% Tornado threat is also present in southeast Nebraska for towns surrounding Lincoln, NE

I will be keeping up with this storm further tomorrow before and as it occurs to the best of my ability so stay tuned for any updates to come.
