I think that the best advice in this particular sport is to remember why you started it.

To continue to fall in love with your horse even when it gets really difficult or when you feel a little burnt out or down or something.

Or what you’re doing isn’t working or you can’t get through to your horse that you remember the whole reason that we do the sport is to just be in love with your horse and be passionate about your horse and that relationship that gives so much back to us.

When I get on a horse they need me to be 100% and that is where my focus needs to be.

If I’m emotionally not there I have gotten to the point where I’m like ‘You know what? Today is a trail day. We’re just going to go have fun.’

Because they deserve my best, 100% all the time.

You need to do it for you and you need to do it for the horses and you need to do it the right way.

The moment you start having these plans or you’re doing it for gain or you’re doing it for other things than just a pure intention of being one with your horse, then I think it’s very difficult.

I think that we step up on that mounting block and you let all of the emotions, no matter what’s gone on in the day, the month, the year, and you have to just come with a positive attitude and let that horse know that it’s the center of your universe right now.
