John Ord Photography Seems pretty cut and dry when you read the "About" statement but having a camera is only the first step in the world of photography. A little background on me?

Photography is the art, science and practice of creating durable images by recording light or other electromagnetic radiation, either electronically by means of an image sensor or chemically by means of a light-sensitive material such as photographic film Being in touch with your subject matter and having that "eye", whether it be still life or a bride on her wedding day, makes all the difference

between just a picture and capturing the "moment" for a lifetime of memories. Been behind a camera since high school. I was staff on both the yearbook and newspaper. Had great advisors for each and learned how to take meaniful and candids shots. The majority of the candid shots in the Seton Class of 1897 Yearbook came from my camera. With the help of my folks I was able to get a Minolta Maxxum 7000 with intelligent flash, 28-55mm zoom and 70-200mm zoom lenses. I finished out my high school days learning that camera and wanted to make a few bucks to pay for it and get some accessories. Soon I had different filters for special effects and picked up a couple of weddings. Next came senior and family portraits and a few more weddings. Word traveled fast and I was able to pick up a Maxxum 9000 with motor drive. This allowed me to have 2 cameras loaded and ready when doing gigs. Recently I had a photo shoot to do for a family reunion and realized that film was just not going to cut it. Diffuculty with proccessing and enlargments made it a very time consuming proccess not to mention my profit margine was out of whack. So after a year of research I made the jump to digital SLR with my purchase of a Nikon D5000 with 28-55mm and 55-200mm lenses and I was off to the races. The joy of taking 100's of pictures without a thought was priceless - literally. I picked up a couple of senior portrait jobs and currently I am having a blast documenting the 2011 season of the BR Raiders Soccer Team. My next project? A local Camera Club where young photo geeks like me can learn the art of photography. Stay tuned...
