James Williams Photography Sharing the photos I capture, the places I explore, and a few thoughts about life along the way.

I’m Jim — a self-taught photographer with a love for capturing the quiet, honest beauty of the world around me. From the stillness of Northwoods forests to the spontaneous moments on the road, I use photography to slow down, look closer, and tell real stories. Nature, landscapes, everyday light — that’s where I find inspiration. My work is rooted in the belief that there’s magic in the details, whether it’s the curve of a fern or the light bouncing off a creek.

📍 Based in northern Wisconsin, but my camera goes wherever life takes me.

Three weeks. One suitcase and a bag. Back to Alaska.

There’s always a weird feeling sitting in an airport knowing you’re headed back to work for weeks at a time.

Here we go again.

Some days don’t change your life. They just remind you to appreciate the one you have.

We spend a lot of time looking forward to the next trip, the next goal, or the next big thing. Every once in a while, it’s good to stop and appreciate what’s already here.

Who else can relate? 😂

Some places don’t need much explaining.

I’ve always loved scenes like this—the big landscape, changing light, and those few minutes when everything seems to come together.

Photography has a way of making you stop and actually look at a place instead of just passing through it.

Would you stop here for a photo?

Sometimes the best photographs aren’t the big landscapes.
They’re the little things you almost walk right past.

A flower covered in rain.
Leaves curling back into the forest floor.
New life growing out of an old stump.

There’s always something worth noticing if you slow down long enough to see it.

Which one catches your eye — 1, 2, or 3?

Sometimes the smallest subjects make the most interesting photographs.
I came across this little gathering of ladybugs and couldn't pass it up. One of the things I love about photography is finding something worth photographing where most people would probably walk right past it.

Sometimes you just have to look a little closer.
