Ring-billed Gull with a sea shell

Gulls and ravens feed on sea shells (mollusks) by lifting them into the air and dropping onto a hard surface to break open them. They apparently have the capability to estimate the height from which the shell must be dropped to be able to successfully break it based on the size and weight of the shell.
