Oh my dear friend and brother that I got to know and live with on this earth, I cherish you and today, your body can lay to rest and may your soul be eased to a peace we cherish for you. It was a difficult journey taking your body across the world, but that’s what you wished and we made it so – for you – our dear Tony.
With your last and dying breath, your wife, Jenny, was the only thing on your mind, and she will forever be yours.
Watching her suffer for your loss was heartbreaking to the core. For, we the living, grieve for you while you are finally without the pain of the living.
Having to decide that taking you off life support was the only way to relieve you of the agony and suffering of chemo, shattered my heart, and my soul quieted.
You served for 20 years before you were honored as a veteran of the US Navy without reservations.
You worked for 18 more years before the ambulances had to take your tired body to recover again.
We did our duty to take your body to the land that you fell in love with,
and with the woman you called your wife - The Philippines.
I saw with my own eyes why you traveled so far for such a place.
And I saw the people you called your family to be.
And I saw why you fell in love with a woman, so deep to the earth and in your being.
