As photographers, we often talk about capturing memories.
But this session reminded me that some of the most important memories happen before a baby ever arrives.
As I edited these images, I couldn't stop thinking about the little one growing safely beneath their mother's heart and all the dreams, hopes, and love that already surround them.
So I wrote something a little different.
A love letter to the baby they haven't met yet. 🤍

There’s something so special about maternity sessions — the quiet anticipation, the love already growing, and the excitement for everything to come. 🌸📸
This beautiful session took place during one of Virginia’s “false springs,” when the gardens begin waking up again. Soft blooms, fresh color, and the promise of new beginnings made the perfect backdrop for celebrating this sweet season of life at the Norfolk Botanical Garden.
Since this session, their little one has officially arrived — and I want to send a huge congratulations to this amazing couple on their newest bundle of joy! 🤍

The Martins

One of my favorite parts of photographing families is the in-between moments. 🤍
The way kids lean into their parents.
