It may still feel like summer outside ☀️🩴… but it’s beginning to look a lot like Christmas in my studio! 🎄

Here’s a little peek at this year’s Christmas set, and it’s beautiful! I can’t wait to start creating holiday portraits here. ❤️

Logan needed some new headshots for his website (etc) before heading back to Ithaca College next week, so of course we couldn’t just do a few simple headshots and call it a day. 😂
Now that he’s a TV, Film & Digital Media major, which includes photography too, we decided to have a little fun and get more creative with his session in my Sudbury studio.
A camera had to make an appearance, of course, and yes...Mom, the photographer had to sneak in a little of my creative in-camera movement too. Couldn’t help myself.
I love when portraits can go beyond a traditional headshot and incorporate someone’s personality and what they love to do. It was especially fun getting creative with Logan and photographing him with something that has become such a big part of his life.
Hard to believe he’s heading back to Ithaca for year two already. ❤️
Now to get my other two into the studio. 😂

Beauty, brains and a little bit of brawn too.

I had such a great time photographing this beautiful Class of 2027 senior at Elm Bank Gardens in Wellesley. We had gorgeous summer flowers, beautiful light and so many fun spots to photograph in.

And don’t underestimate that sweet smile. She’s also on her high school wrestling team and just might take you down on the mat. 😂

I absolutely love when senior sessions get to show all the different sides of who they are.

A few favorites from this Class of 2027 senior session at the Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury this summer.

Such a fun senior to photograph with a great smile and an easygoing personality. We walked around the Grist Mill for a mix of relaxed portraits and, of course, had to include something that has been a big part of his high school years — soccer. He’s a talented goalie, so bringing along some of his gear made the session that much more personal.

I love when seniors bring something that represents who they are and what they’ve loved during their high school years. It makes their senior portraits uniquely theirs.

Class of 2027 senior portrait season is in full swing! I’m currently booking senior sessions for September, October and early November. If senior pictures are still on your to-do list, now is a great time to get your session on my calendar.

When this senior and his mom reached out about booking his senior session, they already had the perfect location in mind... Old Orchard Beach.

As we planned his session, I learned just how much he loves Palace Playland and roller coasters. He told me he's ridden more than 350 roller coasters across the country—and even a few internationally! Needless to say, we had to include the amusement park in his senior portraits.

We started the evening under The Pier and the beach, taking advantage of the beautiful coastal scenery and an incredible sunset over the ocean. As the sky filled with soft pinks and blues, we made our way into Palace Playland. I purposely saved the amusement park for the end of the session because I had a feeling once we walked through those gates, he'd want to ride a few roller coasters... and I was right! As soon as we finished photographing, he was off enjoying the rides.

As we walked, we swapped roller coaster stories, and I shared how I grew up just across the Connecticut River from what was then Riverside Park (now Six Flags New England). It made the evening even more fun while creating portraits in one of his favorite places.

One of my favorite parts of photographing high school seniors is helping them choose locations that are meaningful to them. Those personal connections help create portraits that truly reflect who they are.

Here are a few of my favorite portraits from the evening, mixed in with some behind-the-scenes moments that give you a glimpse into how we created them.

Oh and in case you didn't know my mom lives up here and I'm here off and on most of the summer. Looking to book a session like this for your senior or family? Reach out, I might be able to fit one more beach session in for the year.

There’s something so peaceful about photographing among summer wildflowers. 🌿

The evening light was beautiful, the flowers were in bloom, and her natural beauty, quiet confidence, and effortless elegance made every portrait feel timeless.

Moments like these remind me why I love creating outdoor portraits. Sometimes the most beautiful images come from simply slowing down, embracing nature, and capturing someone just as they are.

Let’s create something beautiful and uniquely you.

🎓 Class of 2027...Senior Year is Here!

One of the questions I'm asked most often is, "When should we book senior portraits?"

Every season offers a different look. Here's when I recommend booking each type of session:

🌊 Sunset Beach Sessions – Book ASAP. I've been booking beach senior sessions since April, and every summer my sunset dates are among the first to fill.

🌸 Summer Flowers & Gardens – Booking now.

🌾 Summer Fields – Booking now.

🍁 Early Fall Sessions – Book at least 6 weeks in advance.

🍂 Peak Fall Foliage – Book now! These dates always go quickly.

🌿 Wayside Inn Grist Mill in Sudbury is one of my favorite locations for senior portraits in spring, summer, and fall. As one of the permitted photographers there, I know the property well. It's much more than just the historic mill. The property offers beautiful gardens, open fields, stone walls, scenic paths, ponds, bridges, and so many unique locations—all in one place.

📍 Of course, that's just one option! I photograph seniors throughout Metrowest, Boston, the North Shore, Cape Cod, and southern Maine, and I'm always happy to help you choose a location that fits your personality and style.

📅 Yearbook Reminder: If your school requires a yearbook portrait, plan your session at least 6 weeks before your deadline to allow plenty of time for editing and ordering.

Many seniors also choose to book a custom senior portrait session in addition to their yearbook photo. While the yearbook portrait is important, your senior session is really about celebrating you—your personality, your interests, and everything that has made these past four years uniquely yours.

Senior year is a once-in-a-lifetime milestone. Let's create portraits that tell your story. ❤️📸

Over the past few weeks, as inquiries have come in for family and senior sessions, I've found myself reflecting on how fortunate I am to have so many families return to me throughout the years.

Photography is personal. There are so many talented photographers to choose from, and every family connects with someone different. That's why it means so much to me when families invite me back to document another chapter of their lives.

One of my favorite things is when parents tell me their children ask, "When are we going to see Paula again?" Those moments remind me these sessions are about so much more than photographs. They're about relationships, trust, and being welcomed back to help tell your family's story.

The images in this post are just one example. They span many years with the same family. I've photographed them through pregnancy, toddlers, childhood adventures, family sessions, and senior portraits. Looking through these photographs reminds me just how quickly the years pass and how grateful I am to be trusted with preserving them.

Photography has been my passion for more than 30 years. Over 20 of those years have been spent photographing families and children. While I hold the Master of Photography and Photographic Craftsman degrees, I've never stopped learning and continue to invest in education to better serve the families who trust me with their memories.

Thank you for allowing me to be a small part of your family's story. If you've invited me back over the years, thank you for your trust. And if you're just finding me now, welcome to the Paula Swift Photography family. ❤️
