This morning marked a Historic occasion at the Wisconsin Maritime Museum as the USS Cobia (SS-245), a World War II-era submarine and National Historic Landmark set off on a memorable journey. After more than five decades at Manitowoc, she was towed by tugboats Nickelena and Erika Kobasic of Basic Marine Escanaba, MI, up Lake Michigan toward Fincantieri Bay Shipbuilding in Sturgeon Bay, Wisconsin for a routine dry-dock 4 to 6 week restoration process.
