One adaptation of this square-bodied crab is its ability to blend in with the color of the sandy intertidal zone in the tropical and subtropical environments that they live in. Ghost crabs also have jointed legs which allows them to move very quickly if they need to, sometimes up to 10mph! This species (Ocypode quadrata) really does live up to their name, which means “swift-footed.”

Sargassum…..what do you know about it? One thing we love about it here at ANGARI is that it's a carbon sink! It absorbs CO2 from the atmosphere, and when it loses its buoyancy and sinks to the seafloor, it redistributes carbon to the deep sea.

Find out so much more about Sargassum at our upcoming on Nov. 30th with Dr. Brian Lapointe! Register here: https://hubs.ly/Q025xWbL0
