I don’t think I’ll ever stop being fascinated by women. And I don’t think I even have the words to explain why. There’s just so much to us. I love how differently we all experience the world, how our minds work, how much of who we are exists beyond what anyone else gets to see. I love that we’re complicated and sometimes don’t even understand ourselves. I think that’s part of what makes being a woman so interesting to me. There’s no one way to be one, no single experience that defines us. And the more women I meet, the more I realize how much there is to learn from each other. It’s probably why I love photographing women so much. I don’t think I’ll ever run out of things to be fascinated by.

It’s beyond exhausting being a woman in a world that worships us in art and punishes us in real life. Our naked bodies are celebrated in museums, but we’re told to cover up so men can control themselves. We’re expected to be desirable, then blamed for being desired. Told motherhood is our greatest purpose, then denied the right to decide if we want it. Taught to fear men, then criticized for not trusting them. And when we finally get angry about any of it, we’re told we’re overreacting.

How much are women supposed to endure before our anger is considered reasonable? And why do we care about being reasonable?

I don’t want to raise children who spend their adult lives trying to earn love by being agreeable, quiet, or easy to deal with. I want them to question things. To have boundaries. To speak up when something doesn’t feel right. To know that being misunderstood doesn’t make them unworthy of love. Especially our daughters. The world will spend enough time trying to make them smaller. That lesson will never start at home.

There’s something powerful about a woman choosing to surrender control in a world that’s spent her entire life trying to take it from her. Sh***ri is so often s*xualized through the eyes of men, but what they fail to understand is that being bound doesn’t mean being powerless. Sometimes it’s the exact opposite. It’s trust. It’s vulnerability. It’s having complete ownership over when you let go and who you allow into that space. And for some women, that experience can be deeply healing.

Not everything involving a woman’s body exists for someone else’s pleasure. Some things are sacred simply because they belong to us.

She is one of my most transformative mirrors and I’m so thankful to have this woman by my side to frolic and start uprisings with! To fight for women and women’s rights let alone human rights.

I don’t think we talk enough about how important the women in our lives are. How much of who we become is shaped by the women who love us, stand beside us, challenge us, and remind us who we are.

Our sisters, by blood or by choice. These relationships deserve so much more of our attention, our effort, and our love. Because there’s something incredibly powerful about women choosing to show up for one another in a world that has spent so much time teaching us to compete. These women have shaped how I view myself and the world. The most important women in my life.

We talk so much about finding the love of our lives. I think sometimes we forget we were born with one.

At what point did we decide that a woman wanting to feel s*xy meant it has to be done with the notion that it’s not being done just bc you love you?

Like why does it have to be your husband’s birthday or Valentine’s Day?

I can make you cringe by telling you how in love with my squishy body I am. Why does that make you so uncomfortable? Why is it your fu***ng business?

It’s part of why I’ve grown to hate the word bo***ir. Because even when we do something entirely for ourselves, somehow the conversation still ends up being about how other people see us.

I’ve worked really hard to create a space where women can just exist without any of that. And I want every woman who walks through my doors to know that she doesn’t owe the world beauty, s*x appeal, or an explanation for why she wants to be photographed. Your body is not a conversation you owe anyone. And I wish more women knew that.

I think we need to see more women exactly how they want to be seen. Not through the eyes of men, not through society’s expectations, but through their own. And I think photography has a pretty powerful place in that conversation.
