Cocktail hour is one of my favorite parts of a wedding day because you finally get a chance to just enjoy your people.

Grab a drink, hug the family who traveled to celebrate you, catch up with friends, rehash about the ceremony that just happened, and actually enjoy the party you spent all that time planning!

These are some of the sweetest candid photos of the day. You interacting with your guests, completely unposed, surrounded by all your favorite people in one place.

Of course we’re still making time for beautiful portraits. But building those into your timeline before the ceremony, or sneaking away for a few when the light is perfect, means portraits don’t have to take you away from the moments you’ll actually want to remember.

The photos matter, but so does getting to be there for them! 🤍

I’ve photographed weddings for 10 years, and if there’s one thing I’ve learned, it’s this:

A wedding isn’t more successful because you squeezed in every Pinterest photo.

It’s successful when you actually remember being there.

The portraits matter. The details matter. But so does sitting down for dinner, hugging your guests, laughing through cocktail hour, and dancing until your feet hurt.
