Happy father's day to my Pops, even when he can't keep his eyes open without a hat onπŸ˜† He helped me finish up all of the heavy lifting and bulky moves from the condo to the new house so the shop can finally start to come alive! Thanks to for the fun T-shirts! I also threw some scrap walnut on my wood lathe and turned a simple diamond painting pen for my Mom. I think it turned out pretty nicely for my first turning project, thanks to for the turning videos and how-to's!

Thanks to all of the amazing cooking from and the kind help of my Dad, I was able to get the heaviest parts of my condo kitchen remodel in their new spots; all while making a big mess in the living room!

This week's last minute, ok, late is a flight board I made for Shay's Dad for his birthday. found a really cool bowl made from the bottom of a bottle, her Dad's Tequila of choice. This was my first time hogging out a whole bunch of material with a flat bottom bowl cutting router bit; it went really well but oh my did it make one heck of a mess! I'm proud of all the curves on this, they satisfy my engineering requirement for symmetry but are, I think, also quite graceful. It can also serve as a cheese board before the Tequila comes out!

This week's is a set of reconfigurable candlestick holders I made for Christmas a few weeks ago. They are made of Walnut grown locally in Mystic, Ct, and maple from who knows where. The cool part about these is that each one is made from a single glued up block so when the "leaves" are folded flat, the grain pattern is continuous. They can also be fanned out in any shape you could want, in a circle, a random stepping pattern, or a wave, lots of options. The basic idea for this came from a cool book bought for me but I, of course, took it up a few notches and even added custom hardware; I can't do anything the easy way!

Time for a little bit of with an endgrain cutting board I made for a great family friend up in New Hampshire for Christmas 2020. This board is made from black walnut grown in and is 13 inches wide, 20 inches long, and weighs about 13 lbs! I'm extremely happy with how it came out and would like to thank for hooking me up with a guy and his MASSIVE sander to flatten this monster and for his fantastic youtube videos.

I LOVE the simple beauty of wood, it's especially rewarding to show someone who never knew their own board could be so rich and colorful with the addition of mineral oil and beeswax! Finishing someone else's existing board, all of the reward, none of the work, even better 😜
