A hummingbird in flight as it approaches trumpet vine blooms in perfect evening light.
A long time ago, someone taught me something that’s stuck with me ever since: do your research. If you want to create truly great images—whether it’s landscapes, wildlife, or portraits—you need to understand your subject first.
This photo of a hummingbird didn’t just happen. It came from spending time learning their patterns, knowing what kind of flowers they’re drawn to, and being patient enough to wait for the right moment. Nature doesn’t wait for you to be ready, so you have to be ready for nature.
That same mindset is what I bring to every portrait session. I want to understand you, what makes you comfortable, what kind of light suits your energy, and how to capture your personality in an honest, natural way. Because the best portraits don’t just show what you look like. They show who you are.
