A cake waiting to be cut.
Champagne on standby.
The celebration just out of focus.

Sometimes the smallest corners of a wedding day hold the most atmosphere.

Wedding clients who turn into friends… and then into a family I get to photograph? That’s the kind of full-circle joy I’ll never get over. Six months of this little guy, and he’s already stealing the show.

It's officially February... which means the year is about to go from moving as slow as molasses, to flying by. I haven't decided if I am ready for that, however I have decided I am ready for warmer weather and golden sunsets.

It’s crazy how quickly a year can go by. This time last year, Aspen Ranch was beginning to host weddings and quickly became a favorite location for many (myself included.)

Not only is the property stunning, but the people that own and operate it are one of a kind!

Have you ever wondered why we “toast”? It turns out toasting has been around since ancient days. The Hebrew, Persian, and Egyptian cultural are a few of the earliest cultures to practice this tradition.

I think toasts will always be my favorite activity of a reception because of the involvement of story and memory telling by the toast-makers.

What’s your favorite reception activity?

Can we talk about for a second?? This venue is a new one here in Oklahoma and I am obsessed. I had the opportunity to shoot there last week and as soon as I drove through it’s iconic covered bridge and up to the building I immediately got the feels like I was in Utah again at River Bottoms Ranch. It’s hard to make me forget I’m in Oklahoma — so when a venue does that it makes me remember just how special this state actually is. You can find a little bit of all of the country in the different corners and spaces that is Oklahoma.

Every year, I like to do an intensive education course and this year I am working through Shanna Skidmore’s The Blueprint Model. I finished working through section one this morning and on the cover of next week’s session is the above quote.

This month I’ll start my Spring wedding season, and today I’m heading to a styled shoot because I’m craving to create. The winter months are my sabbatical months that I stop and rest (or try to.) And I would be lying to you if I said I wasn’t ready for winter to have it’s end.

But as I begin the busy season of Spring the quote above was exactly what I needed to remind me to not glorify busy-ness, but to be purposeful with the busy and what I am saying yes to.

What are you saying yes to with your time this Spring?

Praying for Ukraine and our hurting world. I heard this saying earlier last year and since it has sat with me:

Hard times make strong men
Strong men make good times
Good times make weak men
Weak men make hard times

I pray for all generations to rise up and find strength to stand for what’s right, and firm against evil.

Letter from Me to You

It all started as a hobby. 11 years ago to be exact (2007).

I can still remember getting my first “nice” digital Canon camera. It wasn't a DSLR, but I fell in love with taking pictures with it. About a year after purchasing my first digital camera, I received my first entry-level DSLR, the Canon Rebel, as a Christmas/Birthday gift from my parents. Then began whats turned into a decade passion for photography. When I met my husband, Josh, I remembered connecting very quickly with him over our mutual interest in photography (I mean, he's not bad on the eyes either hehe). He had the exact same camera I had at that time (a Canon 60D), so I thought it was fate.

I appreciate you stopping by, and taking some of your time to get to know a little about our business! A couple random things you should probably know:

-The business may share my name, but we are actually a husband and wife team! My husband Josh is my second shooter when we are solely doing photography, and the lead when we are doing both photography and video or just video!
