Final 2026 senior! I taught September when she was in 3rd grade, and I can’t believe this lovely gal is graduating already. 🤍

I love hopping around St. Paul with seniors — there are endless hidden gems that make the best backgrounds for photos.

One more winter post before we move on to all the spring amazing-ness. My sweet sister with an at-home maternity session. Who doesn't love dogs and chickens!

A few more from Lucy and Stephen's wedding. This was March 20th and it was a gorgeous, 50 degree sunny day. Warm enough to order ice cream and eat it outside!
The wedding I shot last weekend (April 18th) it was 35 degrees with some flurries in the morning. Gotta love Minnesota.

Images from Lucy and Stephen's wedding in Stillwater! I was the second shooter for William West. It was so fun to watch a seasoned pro at work, and to share the lovely day with this beautiful couple and their loved ones.

"Held in Shadows"

A study of light with Leila

My personal project for 2026 is an exploration of natural light and the shadows it creates. I challenged myself to create images I really love - especially in situations I would normally avoid.

With Leila, I leaned into direct sunlight. I placed her where the light cut sharply across her face, basically blinding her for the first half of our session.

Her freckles and her curls were so fun to photograph.

The final image shifts back into the kind of light I naturally gravitate toward.
However, since completing this project I'm excited to experiment with light a lot more, instead of playing it safe.

That's all from this project for now!

"Held in Shadows"

A study of light with Dante

My personal project for 2026 is an exploration of natural light and the shadows it creates. I’ve been challenging myself to create images I truly love- especially in situations I would normally avoid.

I went into Dante’s session with a very clear vision. We planned for 7:15am in the dead of winter, timing the sun to hit exactly where I needed it for a specific shadowed look.

But the sun never really showed up. Shocking for a winter morning in Minnesota, I know.

Instead of bright, harsh beams reflecting off the cello, we got the soft muted light- barely touching the edge of my subject. So we went with soft, moody, and a little mysterious. Double exposures and a slower shutter to show motion.
