Not every boat looks like the ones we know back home. These wooden fishing vessels in Mumbai Harbor belong to the Koli community — India's traditional fisherfolk — and are decorated with towering masts of flags in yellow, orange, and the Indian tricolor. The flags do triple duty: identifying each boat, adding a bit of decorative flair, and carrying spiritual meaning, often blessed before the boats head out to sea.

I love sharing photos like this because most of us will never stand on this shore ourselves — but there's real beauty in seeing how differently the world builds and honors its working boats.

The end of another day at Mattapeake Beach. 🌅

The ducks gathered along the shoreline, the rocks scattered in the shallows, and the last warm glow of the sunset created such a calm, quiet moment on the Chesapeake.
One of those fleeting scenes that make you stop and take it in before the sun disappears.

Late afternoon light, a breeze that wouldn't quit, and a butterfly that never sits still — chasing this shot was a game of patience.

But it was my first-ever red-spotted purple, a nice change from the usual Monarchs on this butterfly bush.
