Fearless Girls Photography Camp Week 1 is a WRAP!

This is my second year mentoring at fearless photo camp and this is seriously the most underrated week-long camp for girls in the summer.

It’s located in Annapolis Maryland, and it’s filled with learning about aperture and shutter speed, street photography, food photography, and so many other cool activities!

So much is packed into one week and on the last day there is a slideshow of everything the girls have created over the course of the week.

WEIGHT SHIFTING WHO IS SHE?!?!

1 week post ankle sprain and it’s official: it’s a real injury.

I’m still wildly thankful this wasn’t a break, but I’ve walked off rolled ankles before and this ain’t that. My foot and ankle are still all kinds of colors, but the swelling is down and I have better range of motion so that’s all good!

If it wasn’t for having an amazing physical therapist, Alyssa Fenn, PT, DPT, OCS at Aging Stronger Kent Island , I would probably be a lot more freaked out.

As a business owner, I’m ok. I rescheduled some stuff and my next session is at the end of August, and that timeline feels reasonable to me!

As a mom and caregiver…. As a woman who loves to strength train and run and jump… I’m not having fun. I can’t carry my disabled child. My husband is WFH and shouldering most responsibilities and care tasks. I can do some things but I have to move SO SLOWLY.

But… I’m getting through. I’m always gonna laugh so I don’t cry. And then I’ll cry in private anyways because my body and brain function better after a good cry. 😅

It’s a great time to plan future projects with me because I’m basically on my computer all day editing and scheming and working 🤣🐸 give me something to do & let’s plan your September photo session! My books are open through the rest of the year 💜💜💜

I’m photographing a retreat in November and offering mini sessions at it and I’ll be cohosting a workshop too - more on that soon!

I'm Rebecca 💜✨

If we just met, here is a little bit about me:

🟣 I've been photographing folks professionally since 2019, and as a hobbyist since 2007 when my parents gave me my first camera and I became the "photoshoot coordinator(and producer and director)" of my friend group.

🟣 I have three kids and my youngest child has cerebral palsy and epilepsy. We are a medically complex family and I'm a full-time caregiver AND full-time photographer.

🟣 I'm a mover. Let's take a walk, or stretch, or balance on one foot, or do some physical therapy, or go squat 180lbs PLEASEEEEE. I love to move and moving loves me too! I'm rehabbing a shoulder injury but it won't keep me down.

🟣 I photograph families, couples, graduating seniors, BUT I specialize in studio portraiture, brand and commercial work!

🟣 I'm an avid reader and switched to audiobooks when I became a mom for the third time and knew my hands would be full for the rest of my life LOL. I read fantasy, historical fiction, mysteries, literary fiction, and romance. I like a little bit of everything!

🟣 I'm so excited you're here and I hope you love art as much as I do because I also love to SHARE and express myself, and my favorite way to do that is through my work.

I'm so happy you're here! I'd love to know if we have anything in common. ;)

It’s a BUSY BUSY week between sending proposals, new inquiries, and I’m about to go into two days of photographing dance recital photos so WISH ME LUCK

I was out of office for a whole week last week and it was EXACTLY what I needed. My youngest daughter had a 5-day EEG and it was a positive experience and her neuro team learned a lot about her epilepsy, but a lot of what we learned was hard to hear.

I’m back in office now and so excited to get to work!

Oop, hey mama, I heard you’re stressing about family photos for Mother’s Day this year.

What will the kids wear?
 How will they act?
 Will this be more stress than fun?
 What if we aren’t an easy family to work with?

To that, I say, stop all that worrying, mama.

Bring your kids in clothes that feel easy and comfortable for them. Bring one or two of their favorite toys. Lean into the bond, the connection, and the beautiful chaos of this season.

When you look back 20 years from now, you’ll be so glad your family photos reflected the true essence of who your family was in that moment in time.
