No one really talks about this part.

The quiet house.
The missing footsteps.
The way your heart feels a little emptier.

Gunner was our heart dog. The one who watched us start our marriage, bring our girls into this world, and grow into the family we are today. The one who filled every corner of our home with loyalty and love.

If you knew Gunnerā€¦ you knew he wasnā€™t exactly a ā€œshare the spotlightā€ kind of guy when it came to other dogs.

But he loved us fiercely.

And I know ā€” without a doubt ā€” he would love seeing us smile again.

We miss him every single day.

A dear friend gave us a crystal when Gunner passed and told us that whenever the light shines through and makes rainbows, thatā€™s him saying hello.

Earlier today, Tucker was bouncing around trying to catch those rainbows on the floor. (šŸ‘€ Can you spot one of Gunnerā€™s rainbows in this video? )

Our boys were playing.

Such a bittersweet, beautiful moment.

Grief and joy can live in the same space.
Missing him and loving Tucker can exist together.

Gunner will always be our first heart dog.

And Tuckerā€¦ you are helping mend ours. šŸ¤šŸŒˆšŸ¾
