Did you know I was born eighteen days late? My mother is a warrior đŸ˜†đŸ™ŒđŸ»

God has shown me something about this, and day seven is one of two where the impact of my birth story is seen in my choices.

The God of Noah, the God of Abraham, the God of Moses, the God of Jacob, the God of David, does not invite His beloved children into things that they are prepared for by their own accord. He invites them into things that require risk, that require courage, that require vulnerability, and that requir

If you've ever declined an invitation to be transformed (for the better), you're not alone. Day six is a confession of my declining an invitation from God, another step (backward, most likely) on my slow start to surrender.

I cried because I knew the invitation included a journey to a new depth of healing–a depth that would require me to walk very difficult and painful things–and I just couldn’t bear the thought of walking through more difficult things, through more pain.

A great portion of this journey was spent in one of my favorite places locally. Day Five was one of the times I was met there with something that began to unravel many things in my mind: a snake.

My physical surroundings barely qualified as a distraction; the cyclone of thoughts reeling in my mind held that prize. I hiked with a vengeance, frustrated that I was experiencing a swirling frenzy of thoughts instead of the very thing I came for.

Day four may or may not provide some interesting visuals of me on the streets of Recoleta, my neighborhood in the capital city of Argentina. May it bless you! ❀

My words wouldn’t stop the rain, nor would they change the material underneath my feet, nor turn back the clock. Neither would they remove any of the always-present obstacles along my route: the contents of the sheer pandemonium. I still had to navigate that.

A few blocks away from where I stayed with my host family in Buenos Aires, Argentina sits the widest avenue in the world: Avenida 9 de Julio. Countless times during my months of studying there, I crossed its sixteen lanes on foot. An incredibly wide thoroughfare, it was utterly chaotic.

I am no different than Eve and the enemy is no different now than he was then. It is because of the enemy’s manifestation through the flesh of countless people in my life that I have allowed my view of who God is to be tainted.

Ezrah came dressed as a sheep for her popsicle date with Stasia. She frolicked over to the table, popsicle in hand, and began to sing “Mary Had a Little Lamb.” She could hardly contain her giggles, clearly entertained at her own wit.

I froze in front of half a dozen carrots waiting to be chopped.

Yesterday, after almost 105 years of building a legacy of love, we laid my great-grandmother to rest. Read of her impact and be encouraged to lay down your life for others as she did.

There is so much I remember: the stories of her experiences working for CPS, of making Zurek with her grandmother, and of her world travels; the sharing of her wisdom; the hope she had for my future. But what always hits me hardest is the memory of her overabundant love. Woven with every word of tho

Amid that awe, there is another question, a question I have heard asked outright and have seen concealed within words of anguish, perplexity, and distress:

Where did God go?

Did He flee before the first confirmed case in China? Did He sneak away in the night as the virus passed through Europe? Did He shut himself off from our country as our people were invaded by COVID-19?

Where did He go?

Amid that awe, there is another question, a question I have heard asked outright and have seen concealed within words of anguish, perplexity, and distress: Where did God go? Did He flee before the first confirmed case in China? Did He sneak away in the night as the virus passed through Europe? Di

I haven’t worn make-up in twelve days. For each of those days, my grimy hair has been disguised by a messy bun and a headband. I have maintained a uniform of sweats and leggings, sometimes the same pair two days in a row. And for twelve days my phone has continued to chime, reminding me of appointments, engagements, and small group meetings.

But does any of this actually matter? Read on to see what is happening within the walls of my home--and my heart--during this time of quarantine.

If it weren’t for the muting of all of the noise in our world, I doubt that I would have heard the underlying message those fifteen minutes had for me.

Amanda Armsey

Listen well. Because if it weren’t for the muting of all of the noise in our world, I doubt that I would have heard the underlying message those fifteen minutes had for me.

Thomas: Loved Abundantly

We have to turn back and face the radical, illogical, sacrificial love demonstrated at the cross. Like the disciple Thomas, we have to face our sin and the wounds it caused so that we may remember why He endured so much pain and suffering. When we remember, we see the depth of His love; that while w
